There was a movie called Rosaline that went online on Hulu in Oct 2022 and disappeared in May 2023. These are the vagaries of the streaming world in 2023. It's a romantic comedy set around a character in Romeo & Juliet who is mentioned as an old love of Romeo's, but is never seen in the play. It's a good idea. I saw it before it disappeared and it's not great, but not badly done either.

This is one where the basic essence of the narrative is in keeping with what most teenagers realize in one regard at least - Romeo & Juliet are pretty stupid kids.
Some other key take aways from seeing the movie -
- Though this is comedy, Tybalt is still killed in a duel? Tonally off?
- Paris is played as Rosaline's gay best friend, mainly for extra comic relief?
- There is a key character for the plot who is a dumb and/or stoned messenger.
- Minniw Driver pops up as the 'Nurse'. with a running joke of her actually being a trained medical professional, rather than a servant.
As I said - not a great movie, but a worthy curiousity in the land of Shakespeare based narrative adaptations.
